Kid Code for Text and Email
- by admin
Top Ten Text and Email Code Words – You don’t want your kids to use.
I can remember the days when I was lucky to have a phone in my own room so I could have private conversations with my friends. Wow does time fly! Now our kids will chat and text right in front of our faces—but that doesn’t have to mean we don’t know what they’re saying. If were near by, you can bet that they’ve texted their friends clues that your in ear/eye shot.
Here are some warning codes kids tell others that mom and dad are lurking:
1. AITR—Adult in the room
2. CD9—Code 9 – parents are around
3. KPC—Keep Parents Clueless
4. MOS – Mom over shoulder
5. POS – Parent over shoulder
6. PAW – Parents are watching
7. P911 – Parent alert
8. PAL – Parents are listening
9. PRL – Parents are listening

Going Green with Crazy Crayons
- by admin
Trendy Tip mom’s as you know, I am always looking for ways to go Green and thanks to another Trendy mom, I just found another way to do my little part. On a daily basis I am picking up broken crayons and tossing them in the trash. NO MORE now we have a great little box ready to recycle. The kids and I took a shoe box and decorated it full of color and cut a small hole in the top. It now sits with our other recycle bins ready to gather broken crayons. So if your crayon box has gotten out of hand, Crazy Crayonsmight be the place for you. Founder LuAnn Foty is on a mission to recycle those old crayons kids don’t want to use anymore. You can send your old crayons (or those from your school, daycare or church) and they are recycled into new, multi-colored molded crayons. You can get turtles, hearts, dinosaurs or seasonal varieties. All of them are really cool and they color in a nice, randomly colored pattern.
Recycling crayons may not change the world, but it’s a lot of fun and a great way to introduce your little ones to the idea of recycling in a way they can really relate to and enjoy…

The CRAYON RECYCLE PROGRAM is an educational tool, a “doing your part for the Earth” project, and a community service. Be creative with this recycle program. A crayon drive can be organized by kids and brought to a community level.

All CRAZY CRAYON purchases benefit the CRAYON RECYCLING PROGRAM.
Another great idea from Martha Stuart

Heat makes a crayon a little loopy; it may melt into a swirl or pool into a whirl. With this in mind, we chopped up crayons and baked them in shaped mini cake tins, making large blocks that are easy for toddlers to hold and will surely inspire older artists. Encourage kids to come up with combinations: A blue-and-white blend for drawing the sky, for example, and a mix of reds and oranges for sunsets.
Tools and Materials
Kitchen knife
Old crayons
Mini-cake tins (we used pans with heart- and circle-shaped pockets)
Crayon How-To
1. Parents can use the knife to chop crayons into pea-size pieces, taking care to keep colors separate so kids can combine them as they like.
2. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees while children fill the tin with crayon pieces, arranging them in interesting designs.
3. Bake just until the waxes have melted, 15 to 20 minutes.
4. Remove the shapes after they have cooled. If they stick, place tray in the freezer for an hour, and the crayons will pop out.

If U Seek Amy – Racy Lyrics Rock the Radio
- by admin
“If U Seek Amy” Racy or Rocking
Last time this trendy mom checked the radio, media, and the rest of the world including Britney Spears weren’t responsible for raising my children. So what is up with all the hoopla around Britney Spears new single “If U Seek Amy” The Parents Television Council is warning parents about the Britney Spears song “If U Seek Amy” and urging radio stations not to broadcast it because they believe it violates the broadcast indecency law if aired between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. The Parents Television Council is livid that Britney Spears‘ cunningly titled
“If U Seek Amy” is getting radio play, despite the fact that the title and lyrics essentially say F-U-C-K Me.”
I just don’t get it. Can someone give me the low down on what in the F-U-C-K people are complaining about? If your children are between the ages of 1 – 9 like mine, it’s likely that your children don’t even catch the undertone of what is being said in Britney Spears new single “If U Seek Amy”. As for those with kid’s over the age of 9 – get serious, if you haven’t ever sworn in front of your child at this point and they have never heard you utter the word FUCK – What the F-U-C-K is wrong with you. That is right I do swear in front of my children, not often but it does happen and I am far from apologizing for it. Here’s a News Alert – even if your 9 year old wiz kid gets the under tone of the song, “If You See Amy” seize the opportunity to have an open dialog with your child and answer any questions they may have about it. Wow novel idea right? Use what happens in the media to help educate your child instead of letting someone else do it for you. Britney Spears has a tough enough time raising her own two children – don’t leave her to be your child’s moral compass. My children know that they are not to swear, but not because these are naught words but instead because they are ADULT words. Don’t get me wrong I don’t condone that my children swear but I would be an idiot to think that it will never happen and an even bigger idiot if I thought that they hadn’t heard those words on the play ground a time or 20.
Thank god that the controversy hasn’t stopped U.S. radio stations from playing “If You Seek Amy.” Six top 40 stations have the song in rotation this week, enough to place the track at No. 92 on the Billboard Pop 100 chart.
In my opinion, if you don’t like the song and you feel that the words might burst the bubble that you’re living in, then don’t allow your children to listen to it. This Trendy Tip mom and many others know that there are other things in the world much worse than Ms. Britney Spears getting her career back on track to worry about.
So listen away to Britney’s new single “If you Seek Amy” and sing aloud like I do – “All of the boys and girls are waiting to F-U-C-K me.”
PS Way to go Britney – you got them talking and I see
another #1 hit on the horizon…
